      EVENT DETAILS
Human Rights Forum at Augsburg University

The Human Rights Forum at Augsburg University brings students, global changemakers, and local activists together to explore innovative ways to take action in our ongoing pursuit of human rights. The event seeks to educate, inspire, and empower young leaders by weaving together multiple themes and perspectives that are reflective of our team of partner institutions and community.   The Forum draws on the rich history and innovative educational work being done in the Upper Midwest as a center of progressive internationalism and the promotion of human rights. Building on Augsburg University’s 30-year history hosting a global forum, and as part of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration, we are pleased to announce the launch of this new forum.   Visit our Human Rights Forum website to see programming details, speaker list and more.    The event is open to the public.  Due to limited space, we encourage you to reserve your tickets today.         DAY 1 — OCTOBER 28                                                   The opening day is developed in partnership with the Human Rights Foundation, a nonprofit that holds the Oslo Freedom Forum each year. The Human Rights Foundation has an impressive roster of young and diverse human rights activists, and promotes and protects human rights in countries with authoritarian regimes.                                                              DAY 2 — OCTOBER 29   The second day features speakers and sessions exploring racial justice, indigenous rights and environmental sustainability, with programming developed by Augsburg University and its academic departments and centers, partner institutions, and sponsors. The programming is informed by the principles of nonviolence, dialogue, civic agency, and creative action, and includes human rights issues in a range of settings, including the United States. Day 2 workshops will give participants hands-on training in human rights advocacy and creative approaches to civic engagement.        Registration for Augsburg University   Registrants with an Augsburg University email address are eligible to register for free.
